Hiking Maui: Fun and Easy Trails
While there is no shortage of stunning yet challenging hikes available on Maui, sometimes you just want a trail that won’t take all day. And we get it! So here are some Maui hiking trails for when you want to scratch that hiking itch on a short notice:
Kapalua Coastal Trail
Distance: 2.5 Miles
Perfect for runners or walkers, this West Maui trail is full of informational signs about the flora and fauna of the area.
ʻIao Valley State Park
Distance: 1 Mile
Full of history, native plants, and stunning views of ‘Iao Needle, this is a favorite for a reason. While this is a short, paved path, do be aware there are several stairs and inclines. If you’re an out of state resident, don’t forget to make a reservation here!
Distance: 0.5 Miles
Situated in Haleakalā National Park, this delightful loop often boasts cooler weather, and native 'I'iwi birds. Stay at the campground, or make it a day trip and hit the Kula Bistro on your way back down the mountain!
La Perouse Hoapili Trail
Distance: 5.5 Miles
Best hiked early in the morning before it gets too hot, this coastal hike meanders through lava flows to the Hanamanioa Point ‘light house’ (not an actual house) offering beautiful views of the ocean the entire way. While this is one of the longer hikes on this list, there isn’t much incline, and is full of beautiful places to pause for a picnic.
