1. Shop local. Not only will you be supporting the local economy, it will give you a chance to connect with shop owners and workers, and the Hawaii-based products they offer. Native Intelligence in Wailuku is a great place to start. (We also recommend checking out local art! 

 

  1. Volunteering. It’s more than just a way to give back to the community! Make friends, discover new organizations, and learn new skills all in one weekend! Here is a guide for finding places to volunteer. 

 

  1. Read Maui-based blogs! A Maui Blog is a classic, and chock full of knowledge and appreciation for all things Maui  

 

  1. Learn Hawaiian phrases and terminology. Connect with the language that only 0.1% of those living in Hawaii speak. Find our  favorite words and phrases here!  

 

  1. Try sample different places. Whether you are getting your morning cup of coffee, or it’s happy hour, don’t let yourself get stuck going to the same place every time! Learn about all the wonderful variety of food venues Maui has to offer!
