The area of West Maui is made up of several waterfront communities, including Kapalua, the Napili/Kahana/Honokowai region, and Lahaina—which are connected by the HonoapiĘ»ilani Highway (Route 30). Its real estate market is made up of a mixture of single-family homes and estates, as well as condos—the latter of which makes up the majority.
For those wishing to experience the West Maui lifestyle at a more affordable price point, the condos in this region are quite popular options. Smaller in square footage than their single-family home counterparts, these properties offer the same great amenities—and often more. Condo complexes West Maui often offer resident-only amenities, including a pool, parking space, and an outdoor entertainment area, although this varies from property to property.
Condos for sale in West Maui also offer exceptional views. This can be of the island’s scenic beauty and/or the waterfront itself. Beachfront condos or units with water views, however, are typically listed at much higher price points. In regards to square footage, this ranges quite significantly. One bedroom, one bathroom units can be around 500 square feet at the smallest, but then there are also units available with multiple bedrooms and bathrooms at 2,000 to 3,000 square feet. This, of course, is much rarer to find on the market, but is something that is offered for interested buyers.
West Maui condos make for great vacation properties, for those who wish to visit the island during holidays or time off infrequently during the year. Single-family homes are also very desirable, and typically begin at luxury price points. With construction dates that range between the 70s and new construction homes, there is a lot of choice for homebuyers. And once again, while style ranges quite a bit, newer homes for sale in West Maui tend to be built in more modern styles—while integrating the characteristics of traditional Hawaiian architecture (low roofs, large lanais, and an open and airy feeling.
As mentioned above, some of the most desirable properties in West Maui have views of the waterfront, and these are often found with the luxury estates in the region. Some neighborhoods also have HOA fees, and some gated communities exist, as well.

We thank everyone for their ongoing support after the Maui fires. As over November 1st, West Maui is fully open, with the exception of Lahaina, which remains closed indefinitely. The eastern portion of West Maui is largely undeveloped, as this is where the West Maui Forest Reserve and the PuĘ»u Kukui mountain peak is located. Coffee and Cacao plantations, great hiking, and sunset sails add to your activities as a Malahini (newcomer). But for those who want exceptional views of the ocean, there are also a multitude of hiking trails by the water—the Kapalua Coastal Trail, almost two miles in length, being a highlight. Plus, there's always the chance that you'll spot some wild animals!
Other West Maui highlights include numerous landmarks and points of interest. For example, The Adventure Park on Maui offers an exciting obstacle ropes course. Ka'anapali has some popular surf spots, and West Maui is particularly a great area for hiking, ziplining, and wildlife watching. Golf enthusiasts will also enjoy the area's two major courses, the Ka'anapali Golf Courses and the Kapalua Plantation Course, located in Ka'anapali and Kapalua, respectively.
While South Maui is the region of the island most recognized for its amazing beaches, there are several in West Maui that are worth visiting, too: Launiupoko Beach Park, Baby Beach, Kaanapali Beach and Black Rock Beach (known specifically for advanced snorkeling), Kahekili Beach Park, Kapalua Bay Beach, and more.
