Our series “Weekend Living” is all about what you might want to spend your day off doing on different parts of Maui. So far we’ve covered Kihei, Wailuku, Kāʻanapali and Nāpili. Today we head upcountry to spend time in Kula!
Where to Eat Breakfast:
Whether you want to start your day off with a pastry and a coffee, or a full sit down loco moco, Grandma’s is the place to head first.
Where to Spend Your Morning:
The Ali’i Kula Lavender Farm has limited hours, but is a beautiful experience if the scheduling works out. Take a tour or walk the property yourself, and shop their locally made lavender products.
Alternatively, if it’s the right time of year for a pumpkin patch, or strawberry picking, we recommend heading over to Kula Country Farms! Their charming (and delicious) farmstand is open year round.
Where to Eat Lunch:
A local favorite for all meals, Kula Bistro is where to head for a variety of fresh food that will satisfy everyone. From paninis to salads, pasta plates to a great seafood selection, you won’t be disappointed.
Where to Spend Your Afternoon:
While not technically in Kula, it’s worth driving down the road to Maui Wine in Ulupalakua. There you can take a tour, hit the tasting room, and check out the Ulupalakua Ranch Store just across the way.
Where to Find Happy Hour:
If you’re heading back from Maui Wine, you might create your own happy hour with a newly purchased bottle of wine and a picnic blanket at Rice Park.
Where to Find Evening Entertainment:
For those who prefer a more relaxed vibe, Kula is perfect for you. Still looking for some entertainment? We recommend heading over to Ocean Vodka Organic Farm and Distillery where you can catch a stunning view of the sunset, and more often then not, live music.
